Our history

BTA 4WD Centre was founded in 1992 to provide wheel alignments and services to the trucking industry. It evolved further to offer a variety of services for 4WDs and other vehicles, including the supply and fitment of components and accessories, servicing, repairs and registration checks. As the original 4WD accessories store in Ballina, BTA 4WD Centre has maintained a solid reputation within the community and a local customer base.

For the entirety of its existence, the business has been located in Ballina's industrial area and has been owned by the founding husband and wife team. After nearly 30 years in the business, the couple decided that it would be best to sell BTA 4WD Centre so that it can continue to operate under new ownership. Daniel and Jaala Stott acquired the business in 2021, with Daniel serving as the business leader and overseeing day-to-day operations.

About the Owners

Dan lives and breathes four-wheel drives. His enthusiasm, drive and expertise in 4WD accessories and modifications ensures BTA 4WD Centre's continued success.

Dan's passion began in 1998, when he and his wife, Jaala, purchased their first four-wheel drive, a Toyota Land Cruiser. In 1999, the couple decided to pack their belongings and embark on a three-year journey around Australia. They had countless 4WD experiences on this trip and have remained 4WD enthusiasts ever since.

After 3 years it was time to come back to the real world, so in 2002, Dan began his sales career in the travel industry and after a short time, he was moved into a senior position running businesses in multiple locations over a 10 year period. Dan's ability to ascertain a customer’s needs and meet their expectations, saw the business turn around in a short space of time and become highly successful, which led to the opening of a new concept business within the organisation, which proved another success.

After 10 years it was time for a change and an extended holiday. Dan and Jaala headed off again in 2012, this time with an improved 4WD and two kids in tow. This adventure led them to the Northern Territory, where he soon commenced a position at Toyota/ARB business, and soon became the Fleet and Retail Manager, where over the next 5 years continued expanding his accessory and vehicle knowledge.

Dan and his family then returned to the Northern Rivers in 2017, where he worked in sales at 4WD World, TJM 4x4 Equipped and as a service adviser for Quayside Motors.  Dan’s 20+ years of working in the various vehicle industries, along with his passion for the off road lifestyle has led him & Jaala to BTA 4WD in 2021!
